Power restoration efforts are nearing completion in areas affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Mindanao, with electricity now restored to nearly all impacted consumers, the Department of Energy (DOE) said.
As of latest monitoring, the South Cotabato II Electric Cooperative (SOCOTECO II) has restored power to 338,574 out of 342,842 affected connections, or 98.76 percent, with only limited outages remaining in upland barangays of Glan due to landslide-damaged distribution lines.
The DOE said restoration teams are prioritizing remaining repairs in coordination with electric cooperatives and energy sector partners to ensure safe and sustained return of electricity services.
Authorities added that efforts are ongoing to fully restore power in the remaining affected areas while addressing infrastructure damage caused by the quake and subsequent landslides.
