PSA reports sharp drop in approved residential project value in Taguig

  • October 27, 2026

The estimated value of approved residential construction projects in Taguig City plunged by 91.1 percent in the second quarter of 2025, falling to around P250 million from P2.79 billion in the same period a year earlier, according to Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) data released on October 26, 2026.

The PSA-National Capital Region report showed that the sharp drop in residential construction value came despite a relatively modest decline in the number of approved residential building permits.

Residential permits decreased by 5.9 percent, from 68 in the second quarter of 2024 to 64 in the same quarter of 2025, indicating a substantial reduction in the combined estimated value of the approved housing projects.

Overall, the estimated value of approved private building construction in Taguig also declined by 65.8 percent to P1.15 billion from P3.36 billion a year earlier.

The total number of approved building permits fell by 16 percent, from 243 to 204 during the same comparative period.

Nonresidential construction in Taguig recorded a 37.5-percent decline in estimated project value, dropping from approximately P170 million to P110 million. The number of approved permits for nonresidential projects also decreased, from 23 to 22.

In contrast, the estimated value of approved additions, alterations, and repairs increased by 100.9 percent to approximately P800 million from P400 million in the second quarter of 2024.

However, the increase in value came despite a decline in the number of permits issued for these activities, which fell from 140 to 117.

The figures indicate differing movements across construction categories, with residential and nonresidential project values declining while the estimated value of additions, alterations, and repairs more than doubled.

Taguig accounted for 6.6 percent of all approved building permits in Metro Manila and 3.9 percent of the region’s total estimated construction value during the second quarter of 2025.

The PSA clarified that the figures represent the estimated value of construction projects covered by approved building permits, rather than actual construction expenditures or the value of completed buildings.

The report did not identify the reasons behind the steep decline in the estimated value of approved residential construction in Taguig. It also did not establish whether the downward trend continued into 2026.
