The Philippine Navy contingent aboard BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG-6) crossed the International Date Line (IDL) on June 17, 2026, during its voyage to Hawaii for the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise 2026.
Sailors of Naval Task Group 84 conducted the traditional Domain of the Golden Dragon Ceremony, a centuries-old maritime ritual for first-time crossings of the 180-degree meridian. This also marks the first IDL crossing for BRP Miguel Malvar since its commissioning last year.
The transit underscores the Navy’s growing capability for extended-range deployments and multinational maritime operations, while demonstrating the readiness and operational capacity of its modern naval assets.
The Philippine Navy continues to maintain operational readiness and strengthen its presence in regional and international maritime engagements.
