Philippine Airlines (PAL) extended the suspension of its flights between Manila and Riyadh until October 11, citing ongoing security risks following missile and drone strikes on major aviation hubs in Saudi Arabia.
The flag carrier announced that flights PR654 (Manila–Riyadh) and PR655 (Riyadh–Manila) will remain grounded for another 72 hours, from October 9 to 11, while operational teams evaluate regional airspace and airport safety conditions.
PAL said affected passengers are being notified directly and offered rebooking, rerouting, or refund options. Flight resumptions will depend entirely on a comprehensive safety assessment.
“We understand that this extended disruption creates additional uncertainty for our passengers,” PAL said in a statement. “We apologize for the inconvenience and remain focused on assisting them with their travel arrangements while closely monitoring developments.”
“The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew remain our highest priority,” the airline added, promising further updates as conditions warrant.
The extension follows earlier flight cancellations triggered by attacks claimed by Yemen’s Houthi movement. According to the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), separate strikes targeted Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh earlier in the week.
