The Philippine National Police (PNP) has lowered its alert level to heightened alert status less than 22 hours after placing all units nationwide on full alert following the shooting incident at the Senate premises on Wednesday night.

In a statement, the PNP said the downgrade took effect at 5 pm Thursday, May 14, after security officials assessed the prevailing situation.

“The alert level status of all PNP offices and units has been downgraded to Heightened Alert Status effective 5 pm today, May 14, 2026, following the prevailing assessment of the security situation,” the PNP said.

The police organization raised full alert status at 8:30 pm Wednesday as part of its standard security protocols and public safety measures after gunshots were reported at the Senate complex.

Under a full alert status, all police units are required to maintain maximum personnel availability and readiness for possible deployment.

The PNP said it would continue to keep appropriate security measures in place despite the downgrade.

“The PNP continues to maintain readiness and appropriate security measures to ensure public safety and order,” it said.
