PMA, PAGCOR, Bloomberry to Build Modern Warfare Lab In Baguio

The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) is set to build a technology-equipped Modern Warfare Laboratory designed to train future military officers in simulation, cyber operations, robotics, unmanned systems and other emerging defense technologies.

PMA and Bloomberry Cultural Foundation Inc. signed a memorandum of agreement for the project at Fort General Gregorio H. del Pilar in Baguio City on Friday, July 10.

The agreement was signed by PMA Superintendent Vice Admiral Caesar Bernard N. Valencia and BCFI President Donato C. Almeda, with Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Alejandro H. Tengco as witness.

The two-storey facility will have an estimated floor area of 5,612 square meters and will replace the former PMA Hospital.

It will include lecture rooms, classrooms, drone simulation and robotics stations, virtual reality rooms and simulator systems for the Army, Navy and Air Force.

The facility will also feature planning rooms, a Joint Wargaming Room, a Tactical Command Post Room, administrative and support areas, a cafeteria and a roof deck with solar panels.

PMA said the laboratory would give cadets practical exposure to technologies and operational concepts used in modern warfare, including cyber and information operations, simulation and unmanned systems.

Valencia said the project reflected the importance of cooperation between government institutions and the private sector in preparing future military leaders for an increasingly complex security environment.

Tengco said PAGCOR’s support was aligned with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to help strengthen the capabilities of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Almeda, meanwhile, reaffirmed the foundation’s support for the academy.

“Kapag pinalakas ang sandatahan, pinalalakas din natin ang sambayanan,” he said.

He also noted that Regis Hall, Enrile Hall and Florendo Hall, which were previously donated through the foundation and its partners, continue to serve PMA cadets.

The project originated from a priority proposal presented to Tengco during his visit to the academy in February 2025.

PMA said the laboratory would support its growth plan and strengthen the academy’s goal of producing officers equipped to respond to 21st-century security threats.
