The Philippine Army has launched a Project Management Information System (PMIS) and an Acquisition Handbook to improve the monitoring of procurement projects and strengthen transparency in its modernization efforts.

The launch was held at the Philippine Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, on Monday, June 29.

The Army’s Project and Modernization Management Center said the PMIS is designed to streamline the tracking, monitoring, and management of procurement projects from planning to implementation.

The system will allow program managers, technical working groups, secretariats, procuring entities, and other stakeholders to oversee project progress more efficiently while promoting accountability and transparency.

The Army also launched its Acquisition Handbook, which will serve as a practical guide on the responsible use of public resources, government transactions, budgeting, contract implementation, and project compliance.

In his keynote message, Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete urged personnel to maximize the use of the PMIS and the handbook to uphold accountability, excellence, and service.

“Modernization is not limited to equipment and infrastructure alone. It also requires stronger systems, better processes, and empowered personnel who are capable of meeting the demands of today and the challenges of tomorrow,” Nafarrete said.

The Philippine Army said the initiatives form part of its continuing efforts to build a more efficient, transparent, and accountable organization.
