A Philippine Military Academy cadet has graduated from the United States Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, New York, completing four years of military training under PMA’s international education program.
Cadet First Class Renzo Jamir Almodovar, 22, of General Trias, Cavite, graduated from West Point on May 22, 2026, through PMA’s Foreign Pre-Commission Training Institute program with the USMA.
Almodovar, originally a member of PMA “SIKLAB-LAYA” Class of 2025, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in International Affairs, with a focus on Strategic Studies.
His graduation marks another milestone for PMA’s continuing effort to send Filipino cadets to foreign military academies for advanced leadership training and exposure to international defense education.
During his training in the United States, Almodovar earned several distinctions, including the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge in Gold, the Norwegian Foot March Badge in Silver, Dean’s List recognition and USMA Recondo Qualification.
Following his graduation, Almodovar is expected to join the Philippine Army, where he intends to serve in the Infantry. He also hopes to qualify for the Scout Ranger and Special Forces units while pursuing specialization in military intelligence.
According to PMA, Almodovar aims to take on demanding operational roles and contribute to the country’s security and defense efforts.
The young cadet credited his faith, family and desire to serve the country for keeping him focused throughout his training.
“Throughout my training, my core inspirations have been the Almighty God, my family, and the profound desire to contribute to a coalition that will build a better, safer future for the Philippines,” Almodovar said.
He also thanked the PMA for shaping his character, competence and commitment, and vowed to render wholehearted service to the Filipino people.
Almodovar is the son of Brig. Gen. Montano Almodovar of the Philippine Army, deputy commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Strategic Command and a member of PMA “BANTAY-LAYA” Class of 1994.
PMA said Almodovar’s graduation from West Point reflects the academy’s mission to develop future officers who can represent the Philippines with excellence abroad and return to serve the Armed Forces with honor, skill and dedication.
