The Philippine Navy, together with partner navies, conducted Naval Tactical Maneuver Exercises on June 17, 2026, as part of preparations for the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise 2026.
Participating vessels included the Philippine Navy’s BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG-06), the Republic of Singapore Navy frigate RSS Steadfast (FFS 70), the Italian Navy multi-purpose combat ship ITS Giovanni delle Bande Nere (P 434), the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer JS Kongo (DDG-173), and the Republic of Korea Navy amphibious landing ship ROKS Cheon Ja Bong (LST-687).
The Philippine Coast Guard’s BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301) also took part, maintaining an astern position throughout the exercise.
The drill focused on improving coordination, interoperability, ship handling, and seamanship among participating navies.
The Philippine Navy said the activity reflects its continued commitment to strengthening maritime cooperation and readiness with allied and partner nations.
