The Philippine Air Force (PAF) and the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) have reaffirmed their strategic defense partnership as both sides moved to strengthen cooperation in air operations, training, and regional security.
The two air forces held the 8th PAF-RTAF Airman-to-Airman Talks on May 26, 2026, at the PAF Headquarters in Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.
The Philippine delegation was led by PAF Vice Commander Maj. Gen. Pablo Rustria Jr., who co-chaired the talks with Air Marshal Wisanu Niamkome, RTAF Deputy Chief of Air Staff for Personnel.

In his remarks, Rustria cited the longstanding cooperation between the PAF and RTAF, particularly in key leader engagements, education and training exchanges, information sharing, and capacity-building programs.

He said continued dialogue between the two air forces would help open new areas of cooperation, improve interoperability, and support broader efforts to promote regional peace and stability.

Niamkome, for his part, underscored the importance of the A2A Talks as a platform for deepening mutual understanding, expanding professional exchanges, and advancing bilateral defense cooperation between the Philippines and Thailand.
Before the formal discussions, Niamkome paid a courtesy call on Rustria, during which both officials discussed current and future cooperative activities and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen military-to-military relations.

The PAF-RTAF A2A Talks serves as the annual coordination mechanism for bilateral activities between the two air forces. Among its key outputs is the finalization of proposed engagements and joint activities for inclusion in the next Five-Year Work Plan.
The continued conduct of the talks reflects the growing defense partnership between the Philippines and Thailand, anchored on shared strategic interests, mutual trust, and a common commitment to regional security and stability.
