Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Robert Joseph Montes de Claro has pledged to accelerate the country’s digital transformation agenda and improve public service delivery across government agencies.
In his address to DICT employees, De Claro stressed the crucial role of technology in expediting government operations, boosting efficiency, and ensuring prompt service to the public.
“The beauty of IT is that mas mabilis. We will use it to our advantage. We will make each day count from today,” De Claro said.
Under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the DICT is pursuing key initiatives to broaden internet access, strengthen national cybersecurity, promote safe and responsible digital platform use, and digitize government services.
“Together, let us make each day count as we work toward a more connected, secure, and digitally inclusive Philippines,” De Claro also said.
President Marcos previously appointed De Claro to succeed former DICT Secretary Henry Aguda.
Before his appointment, De Claro held executive positions across various technology firms, serving as president and CEO of People4u Inc., operating partner of FutureNow Business Services Inc., president and general manager for JMango Philippines Inc., and general manager for APAC at GlobalOne Solutions Inc. and Cloud Sherpas.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Information Technology from De La Salle University.
De Claro joined the Social Security System (SSS) in January 2023, where he chaired its information and technology collection committee, Marcos said.
Marcos noted that De Claro represented the SSS on the board of Union Bank, which he described as the country’s top digital bank, and chaired the board of Union Digital Bank.
