Members of the Philippine Navy and Philippine Coast Guard participating in the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise 2026 teamed up with the Filipino community for a civic outreach activity on June 25, 2026.
Naval Task Group 84, led by Commander Captain Ryan L. Bakabak, actively took part in school improvement and clean-up initiatives at Pearl City High School and Highlands Integrated School. The activity, organized by the Office of the Philippine Consulate and led by Consul General Arman Talbo, also drew participation from State Senator Rachele Lamosao and Rear Admiral Weniel Azcuna, Commander of Task Force 93.
Volunteers engaged in tree trimming, weeding, and general grounds maintenance, reflecting a shared commitment to community service and environmental stewardship. The outreach underscored the Philippine contingent’s embrace of Hawaii’s cultural values of volunteerism and civic responsibility.
“As guardians of the seas, the Philippine Navy and Coast Guard stand united with Filipinos worldwide in demonstrating the spirit of service,” Captain Bakabak said. “This joint effort highlights how our personnel can contribute meaningfully to the communities we engage with abroad.”
The event reinforced the strong bond between the Philippine forces and overseas Filipino communities, showcasing the Navy and Coast Guard’s commitment to service beyond national borders.
