The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) suspended operations of the Pasig River Ferry Service on Saturday, August 29, 2026, as severe weather conditions brought by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continued to drench the National Capital Region.
The agency announced the service interruption in an official social media post on Saturday morning, citing passenger safety as the primary reason for the hold on trips.
“Nananatiling suspendido ang biyahe ng MMDA Pasig River Ferry Service ngayong araw, Agosto 29, dahil pa rin sa nararanasang sama ng panahon,” the MMDA said.
The suspension coincided with persistent torrential rains across Metro Manila. Earlier at 11:00 a.m., state weather bureau PAGASA elevated the weather status over the capital region to a Red Rainfall Warning, signaling the likelihood of severe and widespread flooding in low-lying and riverbanks areas.
Ferry operations will remain on hold until water conditions and weather visibility improve to safe navigational standards.
