The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has intensified its declogging operations along major Metro Manila thoroughfares to mitigate flooding during heavy rains.
Through its Metro Parkway Clearing Group, the agency conducted simultaneous clearing activities along A.H. Lacson Avenue in Manila and the southbound lane of EDSA near Estrella.
Crews cleared accumulated garbage, silt and debris to unblock drainage systems, improve water flow and keep roads passable during severe weather.
The MMDA reminded the public that proper waste disposal is essential, warning that littering directly causes drainage blockages and urban flooding. The agency urged residents and motorists to help keep waterways and drainage clean, emphasizing that community cooperation is vital to flood prevention.
