The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Monday suspended the mandatory display of registration seal badges on websites, social media business pages, and other digital platforms until further notice.
In Revenue Memorandum Circular (RMC) No. 113-2026, signed by BIR Commissioner Charlito Martin Mendoza, the agency said the suspension aims to “provide for the orderly implementation of the Bureau’s registration verification initiatives.”
Taxpayers who have already secured their registration seal badges may continue displaying them on their online platforms at their discretion, the circular said.
The BIR also clarified that no penalties would be imposed solely for failure to display the badge during the suspension period.
The decision followed concerns raised by online sellers, content creators, and other digital earners over the requirement, particularly regarding privacy and the disclosure of personal information.
Actress and vlogger Rica Peralejo previously expressed frustration over the policy, questioning why she still needed to prove her tax compliance by displaying the badge despite paying taxes since she was 13 years old.
In a post on Threads, Peralejo also said the requirement might have been more acceptable if Filipinos were not being robbed by corrupt individuals.
The BIR initially introduced the requirement under RMC No. 038-2026, directing taxpayers engaged in online business activities to display the agency-issued seal on their websites, e-commerce pages, and social media accounts used for business as proof of registration.
The policy covered online sellers, freelancers, professionals, vloggers, influencers, and other individuals earning income through digital platforms.
The BIR said the badge was designed to protect the privacy and personal information of online sellers, service providers, and content creators while allowing customers to verify their tax registration by scanning the QR code.
