Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Atty. Don Artes recently met with officials of Filinvest City Inc. to discuss the conduct of dredging operations along the Alabang River as part of preparations for the rainy season.
Filinvest officials noted that the MMDA’s annual cleanup and declogging activities have greatly helped improve drainage in the area and requested additional dredging operations in sections of the river near commercial establishments to help prevent flooding and water overflow in downstream communities.

In response, the MMDA assured that the request would be included in its operational schedule and that coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) would be undertaken to facilitate the necessary measures and implementation.
The meeting also tackled the deputization of security personnel and enforcers. The agency said qualified applicants under the MMDA Deputization Program are currently undergoing evaluation, training, and examinations.
Meanwhile, private sector entities interested in having their security personnel deputized may refer to Memorandum No. 12, Series of 2025, which outlines the policies, requirements, and application procedures for the program.
The discussions highlight ongoing efforts to strengthen flood mitigation measures, improve traffic and enforcement support, and enhance coordination between government and private sector stakeholders.
