Maslog, Eastern Samar Declared Insurgency-Free on 61st Founding Anniversary

The Municipality of Maslog in Eastern Samar has been formally declared under a Stable Internal Peace and Security Condition (SIPSC), marking what officials described as a major milestone in its 61st founding anniversary celebration.

The declaration was made during ceremonies held at the Maslog Municipal Gymnasium on June 19, 2026, signifying the absence of Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) influence, presence, and threat in the area after years of coordinated security and development efforts.

Municipal Mayor Septemio Santiago led the ceremony, joined by Brig. Gen. Arlino Sendaydiego, commander of the 801st Infantry Brigade, and Maj. Cesar Ballado Jr., officer-in-charge of the 52nd Infantry Battalion, along with local officials and representatives from the security sector.

Officials said the SIPSC status reflects sustained collaboration between the local government, national agencies, security forces, and community stakeholders under the government’s whole-of-nation approach institutionalized through Executive Order No. 70.

The Philippine Army’s 8th Infantry Division said the declaration highlights the gains of combined efforts in addressing the roots of insurgency through governance reforms, delivery of basic services, and development initiatives.

Authorities emphasized that the designation goes beyond a ceremonial recognition, describing it as evidence of the community’s rejection of armed conflict and its commitment to sustaining peace.

The military also reiterated its continued support for local governments and partner agencies to maintain stability and ensure that development programs are sustained in formerly conflict-affected areas.

As Maslog marked its founding anniversary, officials said the SIPSC declaration underscores the town’s progress and its continued push toward long-term peace and development.
