The Commission on Higher Education and the Commission on Filipinos Overseas have signed a partnership aimed at strengthening education opportunities for Filipinos living and working abroad.

During a signing ceremony on March 4, CHEd Chairman Shirley Agrupis and CFO Chairman Dante Francis Ang II formalized the collaboration through a memorandum of understanding.

The agreement seeks to bridge the gap between international migration and academic development, helping Filipino students and young professionals access better education pathways while integrating into the global workforce.

Under the partnership, the CFO will share migration and demographic data with CHEd to support the development of policies that respond to the needs of Filipinos abroad.

The initiative also aims to assist Filipino students participating in international exchange and internship programs, ensuring they receive proper guidance and protection while studying overseas.

Officials said the program will also help facilitate smoother academic transitions for graduates of Philippine Schools Overseas who plan to pursue higher education in the Philippines.

Agrupis emphasized that overseas Filipinos remain an important part of the country’s broader community and contribute to knowledge exchange and innovation.

She said the collaboration is intended to strengthen support systems for Filipino learners worldwide while reinforcing links between the country’s higher education institutions and its global diaspora.
