Davao de Oro Marks Four Years Without Insurgency, Grants Aid to Former Rebels

Davao de Oro marked four years of being insurgency-free on Sunday, with government officials and security forces highlighting continued peace gains and reintegration efforts for former rebels in the province.

The celebration was led by the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division of the Philippine Army in coordination with the provincial government, underscoring what authorities described as sustained stability achieved through cooperation between security forces, local officials, and communities.

Major General Alvin Luzon joined Governor Raul Mabanglo and other stakeholders during the anniversary program, which also recognized programs supporting the transition of former combatants back into civilian life.

A key highlight of the event was the turnover of assistance under the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) to 45 former members of communist terrorist groups (CTGs).

The beneficiaries received cash aid and livelihood support intended to help them rebuild their lives and integrate into mainstream society.

Officials said the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to prevent the resurgence of armed conflict by pairing security operations with reintegration and development programs.

In his remarks, Luzon emphasized that peace must be continuously sustained rather than treated as a milestone achievement.

He noted that maintaining stability requires long-term cooperation among government agencies, security forces, and local communities.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining peace and development initiatives across Southeastern Mindanao, including continued support for programs aimed at reconciliation and livelihood recovery for former rebels.
