A majority of Filipinos, or 55 percent, believe it is “too early” to determine the outcome of Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial, preferring to see the evidence first, according to an OCTA Research survey released Monday.
Meanwhile, 21 percent of respondents want the Senate to acquit and clear the Vice President, 17 percent favor conviction and removal from office and 7 percent expressed no opinion.
The evidence-first position was the leading choice across all major regions, led by Balance Luzon at 58 percent, the National Capital Region at 56 percent, the Visayas at 53 percent and Mindanao at 48 percent.
Regionally, Mindanao recorded the highest support for acquittal at 41 percent, while Luzon registered the highest preference for conviction at 22 percent.
Across socioeconomic classes, wait-and-see sentiment remained dominant, highest among Class ABC (64 percent), followed by Class D (54 percent) and Class E (50 percent). Class E showed the highest support for acquittal at 30 percent, whereas Class ABC favored conviction the most at 22 percent.
The nationwide survey was conducted from July 4 to 11 with 1,200 adult respondents and carries a margin of error of ±3 percent.
