The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has permanently revoked the driving privileges of a student driver involved in a viral road rage incident in Cabanatuan City, after finding him guilty of reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.
The incident occurred along Vergara Highway on June 5, 2026, and gained public attention after footage showed the student driver allegedly confronting and repeatedly striking a truck during a roadside altercation.
Following an investigation and administrative hearing, the LTO imposed perpetual disqualification, effectively barring the individual from securing any type of driver’s license in the future.
Although the respondent did not appear in person during the proceedings, the agency based its ruling on his sworn statement submitted through a representative, along with evidence gathered during the investigation.
In his statement, the student driver admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving and issued an apology for his actions. He also acknowledged that he was the individual seen in the viral video engaging in the confrontation.
The LTO said the behavior demonstrated a serious disregard for road safety and violated existing traffic laws, noting that the actions posed a clear risk to other motorists and the public.
LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao stressed that the agency will not tolerate dangerous driving behaviors, including those committed by student drivers, emphasizing that driving is a privilege that carries strict responsibility.
He urged motorists to practice discipline and adhere to traffic regulations, warning that violations that endanger lives will be met with firm administrative action.
