The combined effects of the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and Tropical Cyclones Luis and Maymay have affected more than 382,000 people across eight regions, driving total infrastructure and agricultural damage past P109 million, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Sunday.
NDRRMC’s situational report said 110,000 families, totaling 382,000 individuals, have been impacted across Regions I, II, III, V, IX, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), MIMAROPA, and CALABARZON.
The agency noted that 86 evacuation centers remain operational, sheltering about 2,200 families or 7,300 individuals, while another 1,132 families, equivalent to 3,700 persons, are taking temporary refuge outside official centers.
The storm system also damaged 148 houses, leaving 138 partially destroyed and 10 totally ruined. Public infrastructure bore the main financial impact with P105.5 million in recorded damage, while agricultural losses reached P3.53 million, pushing total destruction over P109 million.
To support affected communities, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), local government units, and partner organizations have provided P13.21 million in humanitarian assistance. Disaster officials continue to monitor high-risk zones as monsoon rains maintain the threat of severe flooding and landslides.
