The Department of Energy (DOE), in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD), convened the 20th Renewable Energy Trust Fund (RETF) Committee Meeting to assess research initiatives aimed at strengthening the country’s renewable energy sector.

The meeting was led by DOE Undersecretaries Rowena Cristina L. Guevara and Mylene C. Capongcol and focused on the evaluation of research and development proposals endorsed by DOST-PCIEERD.

According to the DOE, the proposals are intended to support the advancement of renewable energy technologies and the development of innovative energy solutions designed to reinforce the country’s overall energy system. Priority areas include improving energy reliability, enhancing grid integration, expanding energy storage capacity, and accelerating the adoption of emerging renewable energy technologies.

Officials said the initiatives are part of continuing efforts to promote innovation and develop sustainable energy solutions that can address the country’s rising energy demand while supporting its transition toward cleaner energy sources.

Through the Renewable Energy Trust Fund and sustained collaboration between the DOE and DOST-PCIEERD, both agencies reiterated their commitment to advancing research-driven, sustainable, and resilient energy systems that contribute to long-term energy security and national development goals.
