The National Biofuel Board has moved to strengthen inter-agency coordination on policies and programs supporting the country’s biofuels and sustainable aviation fuel agenda.
The inter-agency body, chaired by the Department of Energy, convened its second quarter meeting for 2026 under the leadership of DOE Undersecretary and NBB Alternate Chairperson Alessandro O. Sales.
Discussions centered on key policy priorities, including feedstock diversification, the ongoing review of Republic Act No. 9367 or the Biofuels Act of 2006, and initiatives aimed at supporting the development of sustainable aviation fuel.
The Board also tackled measures to align policy directions among member agencies and reinforce collaboration in implementing programs that would promote the country’s biofuels industry and support a more sustainable energy sector.
Representatives from the Department of Agriculture, Department of Science and Technology, Sugar Regulatory Administration, Philippine Coconut Authority, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Transportation, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, Senate Economic Planning Office, and the DOE attended the meeting.
