Five Chinese nationals were arrested in Trento, Agusan del Sur on Monday, Aug. 3, following a joint law enforcement operation over alleged violations of Philippine immigration laws.
The operation was conducted at the Mayokada Enterprise Compound in Purok 4, Barangay Pulang Lupa through a coordinated effort led by the Bureau of Immigration, with support from the Philippine Army’s 67th Infantry Battalion (67IB), intelligence and security agencies and local government partners.
Authorities said the foreign nationals were apprehended for alleged immigration-related offenses, including misrepresentation, fraud, and other offenses under Philippine immigration laws. They remain under the custody of the Bureau of Immigration while authorities conduct investigation and prepare the filing of appropriate charges.
The Philippine Army said the 67IB provided security and law enforcement support throughout the operation, securing the area and coordinating with participating government agencies to ensure the mission was carried out safely and without incident.
Maj. Gen. Alvin Luzon, commander of the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division, said the operation highlighted the importance of close coordination among government agencies in enforcing the law and protecting national security.
“The Philippine Army remains steadfast in supporting legitimate law enforcement operations that protect our national security and uphold the rule of law. This successful inter-agency effort demonstrates the government’s unified commitment to ensuring that all foreign nationals in the country comply with Philippine laws while safeguarding the welfare and security of our communities.”
The 10th Infantry Division said it will continue supporting partner law enforcement agencies in carrying out lawful operations against individuals whose activities threaten public order, national security and the integrity of the country’s immigration system.
