The Department of Energy (DOE) has welcomed the completion and launch of the 20.774-megawatt-peak (MWp) Misamis Solar Project, describing it as another step forward in strengthening the country’s renewable energy sector and long-term energy sustainability efforts.

In a statement, the DOE said it joined the ceremonial switch-on and inauguration of the FDC Green Misamis Solar Project on May 22, 2026, marking a milestone in the government’s push to accelerate clean energy development across the country.

The newly inaugurated solar facility is expected to provide additional clean and sustainable electricity to the power grid, helping support the Philippines’ energy transition agenda while enhancing energy security and resiliency.

The project also highlights the continuing collaboration between the government and private sector in driving renewable energy investments and expanding the country’s indigenous energy resources.

According to the DOE, partnerships between public institutions and private companies remain critical in achieving a cleaner, more reliable, and sustainable energy future for Filipinos.

The Misamis Solar Project forms part of broader efforts to increase renewable energy capacity nationwide as the country works toward reducing dependence on conventional fuel sources and promoting environmentally sustainable power generation.

The DOE said initiatives such as the Misamis Solar Project reinforce national goals of building a resilient energy system capable of meeting growing electricity demand while supporting climate and sustainability commitments.

“The project reflects the continued collaboration between the government and private sector in accelerating renewable energy investments and expanding indigenous energy resources toward a cleaner, more reliable, and more sustainable energy future for the Filipino people,” the DOE said.
