CIDG Nets 38 in 24-Hour Nationwide Crackdown on Wanted Persons, Criminals

A sweeping one-day law enforcement drive by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) led to the arrest of 38 individuals across the country, as police intensified operations against fugitives and active lawbreakers.

CIDG Director Robert AA Morico II said the arrests, carried out on May 5, were part of the intensified campaign aligned with the directive of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. to sustain aggressive law enforcement actions nationwide.

Of the total number, 32 suspects were apprehended through manhunt operations under Oplan Pagtugis, backed by warrants of arrest for serious offenses including murder, homicide, rape, and violations of Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act),  and Republic Act No. 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Act of 2004).

Police said 12 of those arrested were from Luzon, five from the Visayas, and 15 from Mindanao. Thirteen of the suspects were classified as non-bailable due to the gravity of their cases.

Authorities also confirmed that six of those arrested were listed as regional-level most wanted persons in Regions 3, 4A, 6, 11, and the Negros Island Region, while seven others were tagged as provincial-level most wanted across several areas including Bulacan, Camarines Sur, and parts of Mindanao.

In a separate set of operations under Oplan Olea, six additional suspects were caught in the act of committing crimes. Seized during these operations were items worth P61,350, including alleged substandard rechargeable fans, vape products, and materials linked to illegal mining.

Morico commended CIDG units nationwide for the coordinated effort, noting that the results reflect the agency’s sustained, round-the-clock push against criminality.

The CIDG reaffirmed its commitment to pursue fugitives and enforce the law continuously, emphasizing that intensified operations will remain in place to ensure public safety.
