Edward Elric’s Alchemy Comes To Life In New Fullmetal Alchemist Watch

Seiko has unveiled a new collaboration watch inspired by Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, giving collectors and anime fans a timepiece built around one of the series’ most recognizable characters, Edward Elric.

The watch, released as part of a Japan-market collaboration, blends Seiko’s chronograph styling with design cues taken from the world of alchemy. Its black dial features a red transmutation circle, while other details reference key symbols from the series, including the Flamel Cross and the Amestris military crest.

For longtime fans, the most emotional detail may be found on the caseback. Engraved on the back is the phrase “Don’t forget 3. OCT. 11,” a line tied to Edward and Alphonse Elric’s decision to leave their past behind and continue their search for a way to restore what they lost.

The design avoids the look of a simple novelty item. Instead, Seiko presents the watch as a wearable collector’s piece, using subtle but recognizable references rather than oversized character art. The red and black color scheme echoes Edward’s visual identity, while the metallic build and chronograph layout give the piece a more traditional watch-collector appeal.

The model uses a Seiko quartz chronograph movement and comes with a stainless steel case and bracelet. It also features a Hardlex crystal, water resistance suitable for everyday use, and a presentation box designed with Fullmetal Alchemist branding.

For watch collectors, the appeal lies in the combination of Seiko’s accessible watchmaking reputation and the limited availability usually associated with Japanese anime collaborations. It is not positioned as a high-end mechanical watch, but as a character-driven collectible with functional specifications and a design that can still be worn outside a display case.

For Fullmetal Alchemist fans, the watch serves as a compact tribute to Edward Elric’s journey. The transmutation circle on the dial, the military crest, the Flamel symbol, and the engraved reminder on the caseback all point to different parts of the story without overwhelming the design.

Pre-orders are now open in Japan, with shipments scheduled to begin in January 2027. International buyers may need to rely on import shops or proxy services, depending on availability outside Japan.

The collaboration arrives at a time when anime-inspired watches are becoming more serious collector items rather than simple merchandise. For Seiko fans, it adds another licensed model to the brand’s growing catalog of pop culture releases. For Fullmetal Alchemist fans, it offers something more personal: a wearable reminder of sacrifice, resolve, and the cost of moving forward.
