A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck the waters off Balut Island in Sarangani, Davao Occidental, early Saturday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
PHIVOLCS said the tremor occurred at 4:07 a.m. and had a depth of 10 kilometers.
Based on instrumental intensities, Intensity II was recorded in Kiamba, Malungon, Malapatan, and Maasim in Sarangani, while Intensity I was recorded in T’boli, South Cotabato.
PHIVOLCS said the quake was still part of the aftershocks from the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Sarangani on June 8.
Authorities said no damage or additional aftershocks are expected from the latest tremor.
