Crackdown Intensified on Dispersed Scam Hubs Linked to Ex-POGO Networks

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is stepping up its operations against suspected scam hubs believed to have evolved from former Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), shifting into smaller, more covert networks across the country.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said authorities are validating intelligence reports indicating that some groups have adopted a “guerrilla-style” setup to evade detection following previous large-scale crackdowns.

The intensified campaign follows directives from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla, aimed at sustaining pressure on illegal scam operations.

“We already dismantled a number of scam hubs but our operations will continue to put a stop on this illegal activity in the interest of public protection and the rule of law,” Nartatez said.

Former House Quad Committee chairman Robert Ace Barbers earlier flagged the possible continued presence of POGO-linked groups operating in low-profile locations, including areas in Baclaran, Binondo, and Parañaque in Metro Manila, as well as Palawan and Cebu.

The PNP said it is coordinating with other law enforcement agencies to strengthen surveillance, intelligence sharing, and enforcement operations against remaining suspects.

Nartatez also urged the public to report any information that could help authorities locate and dismantle these illegal operations.
