Infrastructure capital expenditure requirements, network resilience investments, and shifting revenue allocations have drawn institutional focus as commercial telecommunications providers navigate lower net profitability despite steady top-line growth.
Converge Information and Communications Technology Solutions Inc. said its net income fell by 9 percent to P8.08 billion in the first nine months of 2026 from P8.9 billion in the same period last year, despite higher revenues driven by its enterprise business.
In a disclosure, Converge said consolidated revenues increased by 3.9 percent to P34.2 billion from P33 billion a year earlier.
The enterprise segment emerged as the company’s main growth driver, with revenues rising 22 percent year-on-year to P6.4 billion.
Within the segment, revenues from large corporate clients increased by 29.3 percent, while those from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) grew by 15.4 percent.
The enterprise business accounted for nearly 20% of total consolidated revenues.
Meanwhile, residential revenues reached P27.9 billion, supported by a subscriber base of 3.10 million as of end-September.
Total accrued capital expenditures reached P9.9 billion in the first nine months.
On the network front, Converge said it was able to minimize service disruptions following the cutting of a subsea cable segment connecting the Philippines and Singapore by rerouting traffic through its Bifrost cable system.
Converge chief executive Dennis Anthony Uy said the company’s investments in international cable systems were planned five years in advance to ensure network resilience.
“With the additional capacity from these two new cables, Converge not only has the youngest but it also has the most resilient international network among Philippine operators today,” Uy said.
The company’s Angeles Data Center in Pampanga was also granted Strategic Investment Green Lane status by the Department of Trade and Industry-Board of Investments under Executive Order No. 18.
The designation, secured through its digital infrastructure arm Pentagon Digital Global Corp., is expected to expedite permits for the expansion of its enterprise cloud computing, carrier-neutral colocation and data center operations.
Converge also said its broader digital infrastructure network, which includes more than 960,000 kilometers of fiber, satellite links, subsea cables, sovereign cloud capacity and Tier III data centers in Caloocan and Angeles, supports growing demand for artificial intelligence, cloud computing and the Internet of Things.
