CALAX Opens New Cavite Segment, Offers One-Month Free Toll to Motorists

Motorists can now use a newly opened stretch of the Cavite–Laguna Expressway (CALAX) in Cavite free of charge for one month, following its inauguration aimed at easing traffic and improving connectivity in the South Luzon corridor.

MPCALA Holdings Inc. announced that the 7.88-kilometer Subsection 3—linking Silang (Aguinaldo) to the Governor’s Drive Interchange in General Trias—will be toll-free for all vehicle classes during its initial month of operations.

The new segment, inaugurated by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., is expected to significantly cut travel time between Biñan, Laguna and General Trias, Cavite from about an hour to just 26 minutes while providing an alternative to congested local roads.

Designed to accommodate an additional 6,000 vehicles daily, the stretch is seen to benefit both commuters and businesses operating in Cavite’s rapidly expanding industrial and residential areas.

With the opening of Subsection 3, CALAX’s operational length now extends to 26 kilometers, starting from Mamplasan in Biñan, Laguna.

Once completed, the 44.6-kilometer expressway will connect the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) in Kawit to the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) in Mamplasan. It will feature eight interchanges, including Laguna Technopark, Laguna Boulevard, Santa Rosa–Tagaytay, Silang East, Silang (Aguinaldo), Governor’s Drive, Open Canal, and Kawit.

Authorities project that the integrated CALAX-CAVITEX network will eventually serve up to 95,000 vehicles daily, strengthening regional mobility and trade.

While the newly opened Subsection 3 will remain toll-free for a month, motorists will continue to pay standard toll rates when passing through other operational segments of CALAX, from Mamplasan to Silang (Aguinaldo).

MPCALA said any updates on toll implementation will be announced in coordination with the Toll Regulatory Board.

CALAX is being developed and operated by MPCALA Holdings Inc., a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation under Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, in partnership with the Department of Public Works and Highways.
