BOC Seizes P8.3M Shabu Hidden in Machine Parts at NAIA Warehouse

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) seized more than P8.3 million worth of suspected shabu concealed inside machine parts at an airport warehouse.

In a statement, the BOC-NAIA said customs officers inspected the shipment after authorities flagged two packages that arrived from Uganda in March and were consigned to an individual in Cavite.

The shipment was declared as auto gear bearings, a type of machine component. However, a physical examination led to the discovery of suspected illegal drugs weighing 1,234 grams.

BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno commended the Customs team behind the operation, saying the bureau remains firm in its campaign against drug smuggling and other forms of contraband entering the country through ports and airports.

The seized items were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for laboratory testing and further investigation.
