The Association of Fil-Am Teachers in America, Inc. continues to support education in the Philippines through its Adopt-a-Scholar Project, which provides financial assistance to Filipino students aspiring to become teachers.
For nearly four decades, AFTA has helped education students overcome financial difficulties and complete their college degrees.
The organization said the program reflects its commitment to developing the next generation of Filipino educators while giving scholars opportunities to improve their lives and support their families.
AFTA’s contributions were recognized with the Presidential Awards for Outstanding Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas, among the highest honors conferred on overseas Filipinos and organizations.
The award recognizes the significant contributions of non-resident Filipinos to national development, their support for Filipino communities abroad, and their achievements in various fields. It is bestowed by the President of the Philippines.
As a PAFIOO awardee, AFTA said it remains committed to helping more Filipino students pursue college education despite financial hardship.
The organization said its scholarship initiative aims to enable beneficiaries to become future educators and contribute to their communities’ development.
