The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) reviewed its security priorities and operational direction for the rest of the year during the 1st Semester CY 2026 AFP Command Conference held on July 7 at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., as Commander-in-Chief, led the conference with senior defense and military officials to assess the AFP’s accomplishments in the first half of 2026 and map out strategic priorities for the coming months.
Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr., and senior military leaders from the General Headquarters, Major Services, and Geographical Combatant Commands also attended the meeting.
Officials discussed operational gains, emerging security challenges, and the alignment of defense priorities with the administration’s broader national security objectives.
Brawner said the military remains committed to building a resilient and secure archipelago through coordinated action across the country’s defense and security sectors.
The AFP said the discussions reaffirmed its focus on strengthening operational readiness, defending national sovereignty, and protecting the Philippines’ strategic interests.
