New 36-Classroom Building Ends Double-Shift Classes at Quezon City High School

Students and teachers of San Francisco High School in Quezon City have returned to regular class schedules following the completion of a new four-story building with 36 classrooms, Malacañang said Thursday.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the newly built Dao Building in Barangay Santo Cristo was constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) after a fire destroyed the school facility on June 15, 2025.

“Ngayon, ligtas, maayos, at mas maluwag na pasilidad ang napapakinabangan ng mga estudyante at guro,” Castro said during a Palace press briefing.

The new Dao Building was completed under the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who earlier inspected the newly finished school facilities one year after the fire.

Aside from the Dao Building, the school also received the Henry Sy Sr. Hall, a 24-classroom facility built through a partnership with SM Supermalls. The building replaced the old Narra Building, which was also affected by the fire.

Castro said the completion of the 36 additional classrooms allowed the school to end its double-shift schedule, giving students more time for learning and allowing teachers to conduct classes more effectively.

“Kung noon ay double shift ang mga mag-aaral at guro, ngayon ay mas maayos na silang nakaka-focus sa mga aralin at pagtuturo,” she said.

Marcos, during his inspection of the facilities, said the fast and efficient use of public funds in rebuilding the school showed how government resources can be turned into quality infrastructure that directly benefits communities.

Castro said the project reflects the administration’s commitment to improving the quality of education by providing safe, adequate, and comfortable learning spaces in public schools.

The new building is expected to provide a more conducive environment for students and improve the overall learning experience at San Francisco High School.
