The Armed Forces of the Philippines clarified that its alert status remains in effect but was not raised because of any monitored security threat related to the Iglesia Ni Cristo rally.
The AFP issued the statement amid claims that the military placed its forces on alert because the INC gathering posed a security concern.
The military said it has not monitored any security threat during the rally.
According to the AFP, the alert status was raised as a standard readiness measure to ensure that personnel and assets are prepared for possible deployment, should civil authorities require support.
The AFP said the measure is in accordance with existing laws and is intended to ensure that the military can assist civil authorities when necessary.
