Authorities seized nearly P6 million worth of suspected illicit cigarettes during a joint enforcement operation in Caloocan City, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.
The operation was conducted on July 7, 2026, by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Anti-Fraud and Commercial Crimes Unit, the Northern Police District, and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)–Revenue District Office 5.
According to police, the inspection and enforcement activity covered two establishments in Barangays 176-A and 178.
Authorities recovered 684 reams and 27 packs of assorted cigarette brands with an estimated market value of P5,972,519.18.
The confiscated items were turned over to the BIR for safekeeping and proper disposition in line with existing procedures.
PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units for their vigilance and coordination with partner agencies in enforcing the law.
