The Philippine and Indonesian navies have conducted joint at-sea exercises along their shared maritime boundary as part of continuing efforts to strengthen border security and improve operational coordination.
The activity was held on May 25 under the ongoing Joint Coordinated Border Patrol between the Philippines and Indonesia, or CORPAT PHILINDO-40-2026.
The Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao, through BRP Artemio Ricarte (PS37), carried out the exercises with the Indonesian Navy vessel KRI Selar (879) along the Philippine-Indonesian maritime boundary.
The drills marked the second day of the bilateral patrol, which aims to enhance interoperability between the Philippine Navy and the Indonesian Navy in responding to common maritime security concerns.
Participating units conducted coordinated communication exercises, RASAP, and SEMAPHOREX to improve readiness, coordination, and communication between the two forces while operating at sea.
The Philippine Air Force also supported the patrol through an Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance mission conducted by a C-208B aircraft.
CORPAT PHILINDO remains a key mechanism for promoting mutual trust and cooperation between the Philippines and Indonesia, particularly in securing their shared maritime borders.
The patrol also reinforces both countries’ commitment to maintaining peace, stability, and security in border waters frequently used for trade, travel, and other maritime activities.
