President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday called on local government officials to ensure the proper and efficient use of public funds, stressing the need for stronger coordination between local governments and the national administration in delivering services and development programs.

Speaking during the oath-taking of newly elected national officers of the Provincial Board Members League of the Philippines in Malacañang, Marcos said local officials play a critical role in identifying and responding to the needs of communities.

The President said the national government has been working closely with local government units in implementing priority programs, including the Local Government Support Fund, the Socio-Civic Projects Fund, and financial assistance for Bagong Pilipinas Barangay Scholars.

He added that more programs, particularly in healthcare and social services, are expected to follow.

“Tiyakin na ninyo na mapunta sa tama, tiyakin ninyo na tama ang paggagamit, that it is efficiently used. Walang masyadong wastage,” Marcos said.

He stressed that government resources must directly benefit communities and reach those who need assistance the most.

“We should now view the national government and the local government as working together as one,” the President said.

“Pagtibayin natin ang cooperation at koordinasyon ng local at national government at doon mararamdaman agad ng tao ang resulta,” he added.

Marcos also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to continue reforms aimed at strengthening the administrative, financial, and technical capabilities of local government units.

The oath-taking ceremony was led by Cavite Board Member Romel Enriquez, who serves as national president of the Provincial Board Members League of the Philippines.
