Five foreign nationals who were found overstaying in the Philippines and illegally working at a local casino in Pasay City were apprehended by Bureau of Immigration (BI) operatives.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado revealed that those arrested were two Chinese nationals, a Malaysian, a Taiwanese, and a Korean national.
Prior to the arrest of the individuals, the agency received intelligence information about possible immigration violations being committed by the establishment. BI intelligence officers confirmed the report before an operation was conducted in coordination with the local police authorities.
All five foreign nationals were transferred to the BI Warden Facility in Taguig City, documented, and will face appropriate immigration charges for misusing Philippine visas and work permits.
“Our message is clear: foreign nationals who violate the conditions of their stay will be apprehended and removed from the country. Operations like this will continue nationwide,” Viado said.
