The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) formally installed Lieutenant General Edmundo Peralta as its new Deputy Chief of Staff during a joint assumption and donning of ranks ceremony held at Camp Aguinaldo.
The ceremony, which was led by AFP chief Romeo Brawner Jr., also marked Peralta’s promotion to the rank of three-star general.

Before assuming the post, Peralta served as chief of the Intelligence Service of the AFP. He replaced Lieutenant General Arvin Lagamon, who had been serving in an acting capacity while simultaneously leading the Civil-Military Operations Command.
In his remarks during the ceremony, Brawner emphasized the role of strong leadership and accountability within the military organization.
“The AFP moves forward because of leaders who are willing to accept responsibility, carry the burden of command, and place mission above self,” Brawner said.

The military said the ceremony reflected the AFP’s continuing efforts to strengthen leadership development, maintain organizational continuity, and improve operational readiness amid evolving national security challenges.
The leadership transition comes as the AFP continues modernization efforts and expands its focus on territorial defense, intelligence operations, and regional security coordination.
