The Philippine Navy welcomed His Netherlands Majesty’s Ship De Ruyter (F804) of the Royal Netherlands Navy during its visit to Navy headquarters on May 22.
Capt. Steve C. Morata, superintendent of the Fleet Training and Doctrines Center, received Cmdr. Rodger de Wit, commanding officer of HNLMS De Ruyter, on behalf of the Navy’s Flag Officer in Command.
“We are really honored to be here. I think it’s been a very long time since a Dutch ship has been in the Philippines,” de Wit said.
He said the Dutch contingent is looking forward to engaging with the Philippine Navy and further strengthening ties with navies in the region, particularly in the areas of economic, diplomatic, and security cooperation.
The visit will include shipboard tours and goodwill games aimed at building camaraderie and stronger professional ties between personnel of the two navies.
The engagement will also provide opportunities for both sides to exchange knowledge and best practices, enhance interoperability, and broaden their operational perspectives.
The Philippine Navy said the visit reflects the shared commitment of the two navies to further strengthen bilateral defense and maritime cooperation.
It also reinforces the Philippines and the Netherlands’ continuing partnership anchored on mutual trust, professional collaboration, and a common interest in promoting regional maritime security and stability.
