The Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) arrested a wanted carnapping suspect during a warrant operation in Quezon City, authorities said Monday.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Marcelito Karen Pascual,” was apprehended at the District Mobile Force Battalion headquarters in Camp Thomas Karingal, Sikatuna Village, at around 10 am on May 17.
The operation was carried out by personnel of the Ilocos Norte Provincial Highway Patrol Team in coordination with the District Mobile Force Battalion.
Police said the arrest was based on a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 304 in Quezon City for violation of Republic Act No. 10883, or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.
The warrant, dated January 21, 2026, carried a recommended bail of P300,000.
The suspect was later placed under police custody for documentation and further legal proceedings.
PNP-HPG Director Brig. Gen. Rommel Batangan said the arrest reflects the group’s continuing campaign against motor vehicle-related crimes and wanted persons involved in carnapping activities.
“The PNP-HPG remains relentless in tracking down individuals involved in carnapping and ensuring that wanted persons are brought before the courts,” Batangan said.
The PNP-HPG also urged the public to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious activities involving stolen vehicles and other highway-related crimes to authorities.
