The Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) impounded three vehicles in Dagupan City, Pangasinan after separate inspections found alleged violations of traffic and vehicle registration laws.
The operations were conducted on May 17 along the National Highway in Barangay Perez Boulevard, Bonuan, as part of the PNP-HPG’s anti-carnapping campaign and enforcement of Republic Act No. 4136.
At around 4 pm, HPG personnel flagged down a titanium gray Mitsubishi Montero Sport for using an improvised plate. Police said verification showed that the vehicle’s official receipt had already expired.
Thirty minutes later, authorities also stopped an Aspen White Mitsubishi Lancer for the same violation. Further checks showed that its official receipt had also expired.
At around 5 pm, the same team apprehended a Majestic Red Mitsubishi sedan after it was likewise found using an improvised plate. Police said the possessor failed to present proper vehicle documents during verification.
All three vehicles were temporarily impounded for further verification, investigation, and proper disposition.
PNP-HPG Director Brig. Gen. Rommel Batangan said the operations were part of continuing efforts to prevent carnapping and stop the use of unauthorized or improperly documented vehicles.
“The PNP-HPG will continue to intensify checkpoint operations and vehicle verification efforts to ensure compliance with the law and protect the public from possible motor vehicle-related crimes,” Batangan said.
The HPG reminded motorists to ensure that their vehicles are properly registered and compliant with traffic and transportation laws to avoid penalties and possible impoundment.
