A 45-year-old man wanted for murder was arrested by police during a warrant operation in Zamboanga City on May 15.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said operatives from a local police station, supported by intelligence units of Police Regional Office 9, served the warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court in connection with a murder case under the Revised Penal Code.

Authorities said the warrant carried no recommended bail. The suspect, who was also the subject of a P90,000 monetary reward, was taken into police custody for proper documentation and legal proceedings.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units for carrying out the arrest peacefully and in accordance with procedure.

“To those who continue to hide from the law, our message is clear: the PNP will not stop looking for you,” Nartatez said in Filipino. “We will further intensify coordination and operations to ensure that those facing charges are brought before justice through proper and legal means.”

Nartatez said the PNP would continue pursuing wanted persons while ensuring that police operations uphold human rights and the rule of law.

He added that the campaign forms part of the police organization’s continuing effort to strengthen public trust through disciplined and reliable service under its “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas” program.
