Gov’t Workers to Receive Mid-Year Bonus Starting May 15

Qualified government workers, including military and uniformed personnel, will begin receiving their Mid-Year Bonus starting Friday, May 15, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said.

This is in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s commitment to recognize and support the country’s public servants,

The DBM said P73.456 billion has been allocated for the fiscal year 2026 Mid-Year Bonus, covering more than 1.9 million civilian employees, soldiers, police officers, and other uniformed personnel in national government agencies.

Budget Secretary Rolando Toledo said the timely release of the benefit reflects the Marcos administration’s recognition of the work and sacrifices of public servants across the country.

“Sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., nananatiling prayoridad ng administrasyon ang kapakanan ng ating mga lingkod-bayan,” Toledo said.

He said the early processing of the Mid-Year Bonus serves as an acknowledgment of the dedication of government employees and their role in delivering public service to Filipinos.

“Mula sa mga guro, nurse, sundalo, pulis, kawani ng gobyerno, hanggang sa mga nasa likod ng araw-araw na operasyon ng pamahalaan—ang bonus na ito ay simpleng pasasalamat ng gobyerno para sa inyong walang sawa, masipag, at tapat na paglilingkod sa bayan,” Toledo added.

According to the DBM, the funds for the Mid-Year Bonus had already been comprehensively released at the start of the fiscal year to help ensure that agencies could process and distribute the benefit on time.

“Tiniyak ng DBM na maagang nailabas ang kinakailangang pondo upang hindi maantala ang pagbibigay ng benepisyong ito,” Toledo said.

He added that the actual processing and release of the bonus now rests with the respective agencies covering qualified personnel.

Under DBM Budget Circular No. 2017-2, the Mid-Year Bonus is equivalent to one month of basic pay as of May 15.

To qualify, personnel must have rendered at least four months of aggregate service from July 1 of the previous year to May 15 of the current year, must still be in government service as of May 15, and must have obtained at least a satisfactory performance rating in the immediately preceding rating period or applicable performance appraisal period.

The required service period includes actual service rendered while occupying regular, contractual, or casual positions in the national or local government, including leaves of absence with pay.

The DBM said the grant of the Mid-Year Bonus also applies to local government units. However, the release of the benefit to qualified personnel in provinces, cities, municipalities, and barangays will be subject to the approval of their respective Sanggunian and the conditions under the DBM circular.
