The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said it is currently evaluating the complaint filed by former Quezon City 4th District Congressman Marvin Rillo regarding allegations of disinformation operations, fake news, and malicious paid political content creation during the 2025 Midterm Elections by Peanut Gallery Media Network (PGMN), particularly Franco Mabanta, and CJ Hirro.

The former lawmaker wrote to NBI Director Melvin Matibag and alleged that PGMN and its personalities published several online videos and social media posts that tie him to corruption and dishonesty in the Carlos L. Albert High School Gymnasium project.

Rillo also claimed that the published online materials failed to include available clarifications from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), which had earlier stated that the project was undergoing phased construction.

In relation to the recent arrest of Mabanta and his cohorts, Rillo is requesting the NBi to investigate if the said online materials are part of a paid or commissioned political operation intended to damage his reputation during the election period, including the possible role of Hirro in the creation and publication of the questioned videos.

He also requested to determine whether PGMN or its personalities were paid, contracted, or commissioned to promote certain political candidates or attack their opponents.

The NBI said it will evaluate Rillo’s complaint and all supporting documents in accordance with the law, evidence, and established investigative procedures.
