Gas-and-Run Suspect in Quezon City Surrenders to Police

The driver involved in the viral “gas-and-run” incident at a gasoline station along Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City voluntarily surrendered to authorities on Wednesday night, according to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).

In a statement released Thursday, QCPD Director Randy Glenn Silvio identified the suspect only by the alias “Michael,” 39, who surrendered to Project 6 Police Station (PS 15) at around 10:30 p.m. on May 6, 2026.

The surrender came after coordination between PS 15 personnel, the Santa Rosa Municipal Police Station, the San Leonardo Municipal Police Station, and barangay officials in Barangay Mallorca, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija.

Authorities traced the registered owner of the vehicle, identified only as “Jherosalyn,” to an address in San Leonardo. However, operatives found that both Jherosalyn and her husband, Michael, were no longer at the residence when police arrived.

With the help of the couple’s children who were at the house, investigators were able to contact the suspect by phone. During the conversation, Michael reportedly admitted involvement in the incident and expressed willingness to personally apologize to the victim.

Later that evening, the suspect appeared before authorities and voluntarily surrendered the vehicle allegedly used in the incident.

The QCPD also said it has requested the Land Transportation Office to issue a show cause order against the registered owner of the vehicle for possible legal action.

Meanwhile, authorities said an estafa complaint is set to be filed against the suspect before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office through regular filing procedures.

The incident, which recently went viral online, involved a motorist who allegedly drove away from a gasoline station along Mindanao Avenue without paying for around P1,500 worth of fuel loaded into the vehicle.
