PBBM, Imee Haven’t Spoken in Years, Palace Confirms

Malacañang on Tuesday confirmed a prolonged rift between President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his sister, Imee Marcos, saying the two have not communicated for years and have remained distant even during family gatherings.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the President himself acknowledged the situation, noting that he and the senator have not spoken for nearly three years. She added that the elder Marcos has also been absent from family events over the same period.

Castro declined to elaborate on the cause of the strained relationship, saying it would be best addressed by the senator. She emphasized, however, that the President harbors no resentment toward his sister despite their lack of communication.

The Palace official also pointed out that the senator has, in recent months, taken public positions that differ from those of the administration, further highlighting the apparent divide.

While details behind the family rift remain unclear, Malacañang maintained that the President continues to focus on his duties, setting aside personal matters.
